EX24 application — where do you file as Spanish family?

Submit the initial Spanish-family residence request using your actual relationship and both locations.

Who files the EX24 application?

Spanish relative in Spain, you abroad: they file at their provincial Extranjería office.
Both in Spain: either can file for Article 94.1(a–h).
Both abroad: you apply for the visa at the competent Spanish consulate.

Does the authorization application have a fee?

No: Article 97.8 makes this authorization procedure free.
A later physical-card fee is a separate payment.
Download EX24 and select the initial authorization option.

Choose the filing location

Sponsor in Spain and you abroad: their province’s Extranjería; approval is followed by your consular visa request.
Both in Spain and 94.1(a–h): either files at the office for your existing or intended residence.
Spanish citizen abroad and you in Spain: obtain the applicable procedure from Extranjería first; do not select a domestic case automatically.

Prepare your category proof

Parents: dependency and lack of family support in origin, or humanitarian grounds.
Other relatives under 94.1(i): dependency, cohabitation, relationship degree and serious health/disability evidence where applicable. This category is outside domestic 97.1(c).
Foreign public documents need applicable translation/authentication; follow the official document instructions.

Domestic application: additional documents

For domestic 97.1(c), Article 97.4 also applies Article 38 except (b) and (h).
Provide a medical certificate under 38(i). At criminal-responsibility age, prove no qualifying criminal record in countries where you lived during the previous five years (38(e)).
In Article 20 TFEU cases, criminal history requires individual assessment; it is not an automatic refusal.

After filing

A supplement notice sets its own deadline, no more than 15 days under Article 97.6. Nonresponse can lead to withdrawal and archive.
Domestic approval: request your TIE personally within one month of grant notification; an abroad applicant does so within one month of entry (97.7).
