Student family application — where do I submit?
Choose your own abroad or lawful-in-Spain procedure. The consular family-visa application also processes the stay authorization.
Do I first need an ordinary family authorization?
No. Abroad, you apply for the student-family visa at your competent consulate; that application also processes the authorization.
Do not begin with the ordinary sponsor EX-02 procedure.
Can I apply from Spain?
A qualifying application can be filed from Spain while you are lawfully present, following Articles 54 and 56.
Check the domestic filing deadline and the principal’s remaining 90 days; presence in Spain alone is not enough.
Domestic timing
Article 54.3 requires filing at least two months before your current lawful situation expires.
Article 56.4 imports the domestic procedure. For the valid initial application, lawful status extends pending the decision; keep your own receipt.
Evidence and charges
Article 56.3 governs family link, family funds, insurance and criminal/public-order requirements.
Use the official form and the authority’s current payment instructions; do not substitute the student’s personal enrollment for your relationship proof.
What to do
Choose the channel from your lawful location and principal’s status.
Bring

Steps

- Submit your own family application with the required evidence; save its receipt.
- Track your own file and read the formal outcome, not only the principal’s approval.
Basis
Article 56.4 sends family visas to Article 36 and domestic authorizations to Article 54. Articles 56.1 and 56.3 define remaining validity and family evidence.
