Spain invitation letter pending: what to do next
Your police application is still open — respond only to real notices (interview, documents), not TIE lote timelines.
What should I do while my carta de invitación is pending?
Confirm how the responsible police office will notify you.
If travel is approaching or you lack a usable contact route, contact that office to check the application’s status.
There is no invitation-letter status available through TIE lote tracking.
What if police call me for an interview or more papers?
Police may summon you to verify identity, documents and the truth of your declaration.
Attend by the notified deadline, which cannot exceed fifteen days.
Non-attendance within that deadline, except force majeure, means the applicant is considered withdrawn (desistido).
If you cannot attend
If force majeure prevents attendance, contact the responsible police office promptly and explain the obstacle.
Keep the notice and documents supporting the obstacle; ask for instructions rather than assuming the appointment is cancelled.
What to do
Follow the deadline and action in each notice about your application.
Bring
- Filing receipt or reference
- Actual police notice
- Original documents requested in that notice
Steps
- Confirm the notification and contact route with the office handling your application.
- If travel is approaching or contact details are missing, ask that office for the file status.
- If summoned, calendar and attend within the actual notified deadline.
- Submit requested supplements by the channel and deadline specified in the notice.
- On approval check collection requirements; on refusal follow the decision’s remedies.
Basis
PRE Tercero.2: interview optional; notified deadline capped at 15 days; non-attendance without force majeure = desistido.
