Collect your Spain invitation letter after approval
Pay la tasa correspondiente if required, pick up the issued police document, then hand it to your guest.
What must I do after my carta de invitación is approved?
Favorable notification is not the security-printed letter — you still collect the physical document at the police office.
PRE/1283: pay la tasa correspondiente within one month of that notice and bring payment proof to pickup.
Check guest names, dates, and passport numbers on the issued letter before travel planning.
How long is the letter valid?
The official model gives nine months’ validity from notification of the decision.
This is the document’s validity, not permission for a nine-month visit. The stated visit dates and the visitor’s visa or entry conditions still apply.
Allow time to get the letter to the visitor
Police describes collection and onward delivery to the visitor as separate stages.
Allow time for delivery to the visitor’s location. For an error, loss or changed visit dates, contact the issuing office about the next action.
What to do
Complete collection and handoff, then check the visitor’s entry documents.

More questions
Can the visitor use a scan?
Check the visitor’s actual consular document list for originals and copies; do not assume a scan replaces the issued document.
