SIM and internet — get connected on day one
Compare plans, pick a carrier and activate your line as soon as you land in Spain.
What do I need to buy a SIM card?
Your passport or NIE. Walk into any phone shop, tobacco shop or supermarket.
Prepaid SIMs are available from several low-cost operators and give you a Spanish number immediately. For a contract line, bring your NIE and bank account details.
Prepaid or contract?
Start with prepaid — no commitment, works instantly, covers the first weeks.
Once you have a bank account and stable address, switch to a contract for better rates. Combined fibre + mobile packages are cheaper than separate contracts.
What do I need the number for?
Immigration appointments, WhatsApp, Clave registration, flat hunting, job portals.
A Spanish number is not optional — it is infrastructure for every next step.
