Gather the required paperwork before you submit your application.
What belongs in the initial packet?
EX-02 plus both valid full passports, relationship proof, means, housing and health cover (Art. 68.3).
Add the spouse/partner declaration and any custody, dependency or humanitarian proof your category requires.
Sponsor documents
Full valid passport; residence/renewal proof; employment or means; housing report or lawful substitute; health cover.
For a spouse/partner, declare that no other spouse/partner lives with you in Spain. Include school proof for existing school-age children where required.
Relative documents
Full valid passport, relationship certificate and category-specific dependency, custody or age proof.
The Spanish authority checks Spanish criminal records itself (Art. 68.4).
Overseas criminal/medical certificates belong to the applicable visa packet; do not attach an adult criminal certificate to every child automatically.
What to do
Build one category-specific packet per relative.
Steps
- Download and sign EX-02 for each relative’s application.
- Separate the sponsor’s proof from the relative’s proof.
- Prepare translations/authentication for applicable foreign documents.
- Pay the applicable authorization fee and keep the receipt.
