Autorización de regreso — Spanish return permit
The return permit for leaving Spain and coming back while your renewal, duplicate, or approved TIE card is not fully resolved.
When do I need autorización de regreso?
Use it when your current card or visa will not cover your return to Spain.
Typical cases are renewal/extension, TIE duplicate after loss or damage, or an initial approval where the card is still being issued and travel is exceptional.
What documents does the ICP route ask for?
The ICP AUTORIZACIÓN DE REGRESO screen asks for EX-13 original/copy and Tasa 790-052.
Then add the proof for your case: renewal, duplicate, or initial approval with exceptional travel need.
What to do
Use the regreso procedure when the problem is re-entry, not pickup.
Bring
- EX-13 original and copy

- Tasa 790-052 proof when requested by ICP/office
- Renewal receipt, duplicate request, or favorable initial resolution
- Fingerprint/card-issuance proof if the TIE is being produced
- Exceptional travel-need proof for initial approvals

- For initial approvals, add proof that travel is necessary and exceptional.
- Use it within its validity period and return through a Spanish authorized border point.
Basis
ICP AUTORIZACIÓN DE REGRESO material separates renewal, duplicate, and initial-approval cases; asks for EX-13, fee proof, and case-specific evidence. Validity does not exceed 90 days.
More questions
Can I use the fingerprint receipt alone?
No. It proves card issuance is in progress; it is not a return permit.
How long is it valid?
Up to 90 days; the start date depends on renewal status and whether you apply before or after expiry.
Foreign documents?
Translate them into Spanish or the co-official local language and legalize or apostille public documents when required.
