What is a NIE?
The Número de Identidad de Extranjero — your foreigner ID number. Assigned when you start any immigration procedure. It's a number, not a card.
Is NIE the same as TIE?
No. NIE is the number. TIE is the physical card that carries it. You have a NIE before you have a TIE.
Where do I find my number?
On your resolución, application receipt, or any document from the immigration office. Format: X-1234567-A.
